JOIN! CM50 Trail Race Series

JOIN! CM50 Trail Race SeriesAn Invitation to the 2014 Clark Miyamit Falls or CM50 Trail Race Series....

This is an international trail race on an out-and-back course on footpath connecting Clark (formerly Clark Air Base of the American servicemen and during pre-WWII, it was called Fort Stotsenburg) to the scenic Miyamit Falls in Porac,Pampanga. It is an old trail used primarily by Aetas to travel from their ancestral land, Clark and other neighboring areas.

The route will take runners from the Tennis Court area of Clark Parade Ground (Start/Finish line) at Clark Freeport Zone (formerly Clark Air Base), Gate 14, Sacobia River, Puning Spa, Sitio Target, up the dirt road covering the sugar cane plantation, SitioEbus (Aeta community), down to the expansive Pasig-Potrero River (river crossing), parallel dirt road along SCTEX, Crow Creek (SapangUwak), passing through the Aeta community, then up to Miyamit Falls and the peak (about 3kms to caldera of Mt. Pinatubo) and back to Clark.

For 2014, we are expecting 250 participants and volunteers who are mostly runners and locals like the Aetas.

The Race will keep its tradition of being an intimate gathering of racers, volunteers, organizers, supporters, family and friends. CM50 observes environmental standards like no plastic cups are being served in all aid stations. Team Rescue 8, a group of individuals with medical background and extensive experience in wilderness search and rescue has been providing medical services to CM50 runners since 2011.

The race will start at 1am and will end with closing festivities at 7pm or as soon as the last runner has crossed the finish line.

From all indications, 2014 CM50 looks like it will be the most exciting and competitive edition ever!

CM50 is a trail race series which is now on its 4th Edition.

CM50 is a member of the prestigious International Trail Running Association (ITRA) -

It carries 2 qualifying points for The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® (UTMB) -

The trail race started in 2011 with only 50 plus participants and a mere 14 finishers. The dreaded 10 kilometers of a hilly, remote and rugged terrain going to the peak which is near the caldera of Mt. Pinatubo has challenged even the strongest of the 2011 challengers. Coupled with a strict cut-off time, the survivors have rightfully earned the moniker “’Bad Ass”.

The Race Director has kept the cut-off time strict and within international standard. The scenic view and the challenge of earning the coveted title “Bad Ass” Trail Ultrarunner has attracted runners, ultrarunners and mountaineers to train and join the race. The race has paved the way for the booming interest in trail ultrarunning in the Philippines. If not racing, members of running groups have been joining as volunteers for CM50.

From mere 50 plus racers, the participation has grown in numbers to more than 200 in 2013 consisting of local runners from Manila, the North, and the cities of Cebu and Davao and a growing number of foreign runners coming from Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore. Here is the 2013 race results:
