HARP COOK-OFF CHALLENGE

1ST HARP COOK-OFF CHALLENGE TO LAUNCH PAMPANGA’S BEST CUISINE!

The Hotels and Restaurants of Pampanga (HARP) led by its president Mitch Otsuru of Yufuin Japanese Restaurant with vigorous support from the Department of Tourism – Region III is mounting its 1st COOK – OFF CHALLENGE on June 14, 2014 at Marquee Mall Park, Angeles City with the aim of furthering the potential of the province of Pampanga as the culinary capital of the Philippines while at the same time showcasing the best dishes for which the kapampangan are well known. Registration is open from May 5 to June 14, 2014.

The culinary competition is open to all hotels, restaurants and tourism schools in the province. Registration fee is P3,000 for non-HARP members and P2,500 for members. The competition has two categories, namely, professional (for restaurants and hotels); and schools category (for any culinary school). Prizes for winning participants include: (professional division) 1st place - P10,000 plus plaque and free HARP membership, loot bags from sponsors; 2nd place – P5,000 plus plaque and free HARP membership, loot bags from sponsors; and 3rd place – P3,000 plus plaque and free HARP membership, loot bags from sponsors; (schools division) 1st place – P5,000 plus plaque and free HARP membership, loot bags from sponsors; 2nd place – P3,000 plus plaque and free HARP membership, loot bags from sponsors; and 3rd place – P2,000 plus plaque and free HARP membership, loot bags from sponsors. Prizes also include roundtrip airfare for two to Boracay or Cebu or free entrance to Sandbox.

Judging will be based on the following criteria: preparation, hygiene and sanitation – 15 points; professionalism and preparation (kitchen organization, chef’s technique and work skills – 15 points; originality and creativity – 20 points; taste and texture – 25 points; portioning and presentation – 15 points; and touch of independence – 10 points.
